Patriots Sign LB Shea McClellin To A Three-Year, $12M Deal

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Patriots have reached an agreement to sign former Bears LB Shea McClellin.

  • According to Adam Caplan, McClellin receives a three-year, $12 million deal with $3.5 million guaranteed.

McClellin wound up visiting with the Seahawks and Jets in the past week. Previous reports mentioned that NFL teams like McClellin’s versatility, seeing as he played both outside and inside linebacker for the Bears.

McClellin, 26, is a former first-round pick of the Bears back in 2012. Chicago declined his fifth-year option, which allowed him to test the open market for the first time after playing out his four-year, rookie contract with the Bears.

In 2015, McClellin appeared in 12 games for the Bears and recorded 81 tackles, a forced fumble, a recovery and a pass defense. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 88 linebacker out of 97 qualifying players.
