Patriots Release DTs Chris Jones & Ishmaa’ily Kitchen

Field Yates of ESPN reports that the Patriots have released defensive tackles Chris Jones and Ishmaa’ily Kitchen on Friday.

Kitchen, 27, originally signed on with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent out of Kent State back in 2012. He lasted just a few months with the Ravens before he was cut at the start of the 2012 season and later claimed by the Browns.

Kitchen wound up re-signing with the Browns as a restricted free agent this past May, but was unfortunately among the team’s roster cuts over a month ago. After a brief stint with the Lions, the Patriots signed Kitchen towards the end of the year.

In 2015, Kitchen was active for two games, but didn’t record a single statistic.

Jones, 25, is a former sixth-round pick of the Texans back in 2013. He lasted just a few months in Houston before he was waived and later claimed by the Buccaneers. Jones was once again waived after a few weeks and this time claimed by the Patriots.

He’s in the final year of his four-year, $2.253 million rookie contract and stands to make a base salary of $675,000 for the 2016 season.

In 2014, Jones appeared in 15 games for the Patriots and recorded 25 tackles and three sacks.
