Patriots Release TE Kellen Winslow Which May Indicate That Aaron Hernandez Is Closer To Returning

Mike Reiss of ESPNBoston.com reports that New England Patriots have released TE Kellen Winslow, after he reportedly asked to be let go.

Winslow, 29, hasn’t found much of any interest on the open market and was listed as the Patriots fourth tight end on their depth chart.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter adds that it “sounds like” injured TE Aaron Hernandez is “healing quicker than expected” from his ankle injury.

It is still likely that Hernandez will not return to the team until Week 5 at the earliest, but Winslow wasn’t going to be a long-term solution for the Patriots and he was obviously aware of this. It will be interesting to see if he is even able to find an interested team in the coming weeks.
