Mike Reiss from ESPN Boston has got nothing but love for rookie DE Chandler Jones, who has been impressive in both practice and preseason.
Reiss has categorized Chandler Jones as “The Real Deal”. The rookie defensive lineman appears to have won a starting spot in the Patriots defense after an impressive showing against the Saints and even more impressive training camp.
Jones took over the right side of the line after Rob Ninkovich went down for a few days in camp. Since then, Jones has owned the spot to the point that Ninkovich has been switched to the left side.
There was a lot of talk that Jones could be the next impact defensive lineman to enter the NFL. He even drew some comparisons to Jason Pierre-Paul, which is obviously a huge compliment. The only knock on him was the fact that his technique is still a bit raw, or at least it was at Syracuse.
