Patriots RT Sebastian Vollmer Likely Headed To I.R. With Undisclosed Injury

Jim McBride of the Boston Globe, citing a league source, reports that Patriots RT Sebastian Vollmer is likely headed to the team’s injured reserve with an undisclosed injury.

Vollmer has been on the team’s active/PUP list, but it sounds like the issue is serious enough for the team to consider putting him on injured reserve.

It’s worth mentioning that even if Vollmer ends up on injured reserve, the Patriots could elect to bring him back later in the season.

Vollmer, 32, is in the final year of his four-year, $17 million contract that included $8.25 million guaranteed and stands to make a base salary of $2.25 million for the 2016 season.

In 2015, Vollmer appeared in 14 games for the Patriots and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 42 offensive tackle out of 77 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding Vollmer’s status as the news is available.
