Patriots Sign CB Leonard Johnson

The New England Patriots announced Wednesday that they’ve signed DB Leonard Johnson to their roster.

  • The Patriots also signed LB Eric Martin to their practice squad.

There was talk earlier in the day that Johnson was likely to be signed to a contract after he was still in New England following his workout on Monday.

Johnson, 25, signed on with the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent out of Iowa State back in 2012. He wound up signing a one-year, $1 million contract with the Buccaneers back in March, but was placed on injured reserve at the start of the regular season.

The Buccaneers waived Johnson from the injured reserve list last Thursday.

In 2014, Johnson appeared in all 16 games for the Bucs and recorded 46 tackles, an interception, three forced fumbles and four pass defenses.
