Patriots Sign QB Garrett Gilbert To A Future/Reserve Deal

Mark Daniels reports that the Patriots have signed QB Garrett Gilbert to a one-year future/reserve contract.

Gilbert, 23, was taken in the sixth round of last year’s NFL Draft by the St. Louis Rams. He was unable to make the final 53-man roster coming out of the preseason, but later signed on to the Rams’ practice squad.

St. Louis wound up cutting him loose in October before he eventually caught on with the Patriots in December.

Garrett committed to the University of Texas coming out of high school, but after three years with the Longhorns, he transferred to SMU.

During his two years with Southern Methodist, Graham threw for 6,460 yards while completing 59.7 percent of his passes to go along with 36 touchdowns and 22 interceptions. He had a passer rating of 120.8 with SMU.
