Field Yates of ESPN reports that the Patriots have signed S Patrick Chung to a on-year extension through 2018.
- Yates adds that Chung’s new deal includes $5.7 million in new money over the next 3 seasons.
Chung, 28, had two years remaining on his three-year, $8.2 million contract that included a $2.4 million signing bonus. Chung was set to make base salaries of $1.4 million in 2016 and another $1.8 million in 2017.
In 2015, Chung appeared in 15 games for the Patriots and recorded 85 tackles, no interceptions, a forced fumble and eight pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 5 safety out of 89 qualifying players.
