Patriots Sign TE Matt Lengel Off Bengals’ Practice Squad

Jim McBride reports that the Patriots have signed TE Matt Lengel off of the Bengals’ practice squad on Wednesday.

This means that the Patriots will have to keep Lengel on their active roster for at least the next three weeks.

Lengel, 25, wound up signing on with the Bengals as an undrafted free agent out of Eastern Kentucky back in May of last year. He spent his rookie season on the team’s practice squad before returning to the team on a future/reserve contract this past January.

Unfortunately, the Bengals once again waived him coming out of the preseason and later signed him to their practice squad.

During his college career, Lengel caught 34 passes for 367 yards receiving and two touchdowns over the coruse of 26 games.
