Patriots Sign WR/ST Matthew Slater To One-Year, $1.8M Extension

Field Yates of ESPN reports that the Patriots have signed WR/ST Matthew Slater to a one-year contract extension worth $1.8 million.

  • Ben Volin points out that Slater’s contract amounts to two-year, $2.8 million deal that includes a $600,000 sign bonus.
  • He’ll make base salaries of $1 million and $900,000 and can earn $300,000 in per-game bonus in 2017 along with incentives of $250,000 in total incentives.
  • This contract will keep Slater in New England through the 2017 season.

Slater, 30, is a former fifth-round pick of the Patriots back in 2008. He’s been a special teams ace for the Patriots over the past eight years, so it’s not all that surprising to see them take care of Slater and give him another year.

In 2016, Slater appeared in all 16 games for the Patriots.
