Patriots Signing DE Adrian Clayborn To Two-Year, $12M Deal

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Patriots reached an agreement with former Falcons’ DE Adrian Clayborn on Friday.

  • According to Ian Rapoport, Calyborn gets a two-year, $12 million contract from the Patriots.

Clayborn reported also had interest from the Colts, Buccaneers, Browns and Falcons but it appears as though the Patriots wound up being his best option in the end.

Clayborn, 28, is a former first-round pick of the Buccaneers back in 2011. He played out the first year of his two-year, $9 million contract and made a base salary of $3.75 million for the 2017 season.

Clayborn is testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent and is one of the best available pass rushers.

In 2016, Clayborn appeared in 13 games for the Falcons and recorded 22 tackles, 4.5 sacks and a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 56 edge rusher out of 109 qualifying players.
