Patriots TE Aaron Hernandez Injury Worse Than Initially Thought?

Comcast Sports New England’s Tom Curran reports that Patriots TE Aaron Hernandez’s injury could keep him out for 4-6 weeks instead of the 1-2 weeks that it was initially reported.

If this ends up being the case, TE Rob Gronkowski will have a great opportunity to solidify himself as one of the best tight ends in football.

Shalise M Young of the Boston Globe reports that a source informed him that Patriots TE Aaron Hernandez suffered a sprained MCL during Sunday’s game against the Chargers and is expected to out for week 3 and possibly week 4.

Hernandez has a great start to the 2011 season with a combined 14 catches for 170 yard and two touchdowns in the first two games of the NFL season.

The good news for New England is that Rob Gronkowski has been even better and should be able to shoulder the load without him. Losing Hernandez will still have an impact on the teams offensive game plan but not big enough to derail their early momentum.
