Patriots Tried Out LB Cam Johnson

According to Howard Balzer, the New England Patriots brought in free agent OLB Cam Johnson for a tryout on Wednesday.

This is actually the second time Johnson has tried out for the Patriots since the season got underway a few months ago.

Johnson, 27, is a former seventh-round pick of the 49ers back in 2012. However, he was traded to the Colts a year later in return for WR Geoff Swain.

Johnson didn’t last long in Indianapolis, as he was cut Johnson loose coming out of the preseason in 2015 and he later signed on to the Browns’ practice squad. After a brief stint with the Cardinals, Johnson returned to the Browns last October but was once again among their final roster cuts.

In 2016, Johnson appeared in 12 games for the Browns and recorded 32 tackles, three sacks, two forced fumbles and a pass defense. Pro Football Focus had him rated as the No. 55 edge rusher out of 110 qualifying players.
