Patriots Unwilling To Offer CB Aqib Talib A Multi-Year Contract?

Mike Giardi of CSN New England reports that a source with knowledge of the situation has informed him that the Patriots are reluctant to offer CB Aqib Talib a multi-year contract because of concerns relating to his overall work ethic.

New England reportedly has concerns relating to how he would handle a long-term deal and would instead prefer to sign Talib to a “one-year, make-good contract.”

The problem here is that Talib knows that he’ll most likely get a multi-year contract from another team on the open market. New England is in desperate need of help at cornerback, especially if Talib leaves during free agency, so it’s not as though they have a lot of leverage in the situation.

We have Talib listed as the No. 23 best available player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
