Patriots Waive LB L.J. Fort

Ben Volin of the Boston Globe reports that the Patriots are waiving LB L.J. Fort on Tuesday.

  • Volin adds that Fort will likely have suitors if ends up passing through waivers unclaimed.

This move is likely to create a roster spot for TE Asante Cleveland, who is reportedly being traded to the Patriots.

Fort, 25, originally signed on with the Browns as an undrafted free agent out of Northern Iowa back in 2012. He last just over a year in Cleveland before he was among their final roster cuts.

Since then, Fort has played for the Broncos and Seahawks before signing a future/reserve contract with the Bengals back in early January. Unfortunately, the Bengals waived him right before this year’s NFL Draft.

The Patriots signed him to a contract just a few weeks ago.

In 2014, Fort appeared in one game, but didn’t record a single statistic.
