Patriots Waive OL Josh Kline

ESPN’s Adam Schefter first reported that the Patriots are placing OL Josh Kline on waivers Wednesday morning.

This comes after the Patriots nearly traded him to the Eagles as part of the trade for CB Eric Rowe. However, the two sides later agreed to remove Kline from the deal.

Reports from last had said that it was possible Kline would be cut at some point in the near future, so this doesn’t come as a big surprise.

Kline, 26, signed on with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent out of Kent State back in 2013. He was on and off of the team’s practice squad during his first year, but wound up appearing in 12 games for them last year.

Kline was in the final year of his three-year, $1.485 million rookie contract when New England signed him to a two-year, $3.3 million extension. He was set to make base salaries of Kline $950,000 in 2016 and another $1.4 million in 2017.

In 2015, Kline appeared in 14 games for the Patriots and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 37 guard out of 81 qualifying players.
