Patriots Waive WR Kenbrell Thompkins

The New England Patriots have placed WR Kenbrell Thompkins on waivers Saturday, according to the NFL’s transaction release.

  • New England promoted LB Ja’Gared Davis from the practice squad in a corresponding move.

Albert Breer reports that the Patriots told Thompkins that they could bring him back next week if he clears waivers.

Thompkins, 26, signed with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent out of Cincinnati last year. He was able to make the Patriots 53-man roster coming out of the preseason, but he has been limited to appearing in just two games this season.

The Patriots could obviously use some help at wide receiver, however, Thompkins was a healthy scratch for Week 4’s game against the Chiefs.

Last year, Thompkins caught 32 passes for 466 yards receiving and four touchdowns.

We’ll have to see if anyone claims him off of waivers in the coming days or if ends up on the team’s practice squad.
