Patriots Waived TE Kennard Backman From Practice Squad

According to Doug Kyed, the Patriots waived TE Kennard Backman from their practice squad on Tuesday.

Backman, 23, was originally drafted by the Packers in the sixth round of last year’s draft out of UAB. He managed to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason, but he was waived with an injury designation as Green Bay cut their roster down to 75 players.

After clearing waivers, Backman was added to the Packers’ practice squad but was unfortunately waived back in September.

New England signed Backman to their practice squad just three days prior to being waived, making his time with the Patriots short lived.
