Patriots Waive/Injured DE/TE Jake Bequette, Release DT Antonio Johnson

The New England Patriots waived-injured DE/TE Jake Bequette and released DT Antonio Johnson on Thursday, according to the NFL transactions release.

Bequette, 26, was taken in the third round of the 2012 NFL draft. The Patriots elected to waive Bequette at the start of the 2014 season, but later added him to their practice squad. New England elected to sign Bequette to a future/reserve contract back in February.

Bequette has appeared in a total of eight games for the Patriots, but has yet to record a single statistic.

Johnson, 30, is a former fifth round pick of the Titans back in 2007. He lasted just a year in Tennessee before he was waived and later signed by the Colts. Johnson spent five years with the Colts before returning to the Titans in 2013.

He wound up signing a future/reserve contract with the Patriots back in early January.

Johnson hasn’t appeared in an NFL game since the 2013 season when was playing for the Titans.
