Report: Wes Welker “Seriously Considering” Parting Ways With Pats

Update:

Albert Breer reports that WeS Welker is “seriously considering bolting” from New England after the Patriots offer was “substantially lower than expected.

It will be interesting to see what teams show interest in Welker now that he appears to be focused on shopping himself around.

We have Welker listed as the No. 12 player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.

Karen Guregian of the Boston Herald reports that at the start of free agency on Tuesday, Patriots and free agent Wes Welker were “miles apart” before talks ultimately ended for the day.

There’s been a good deal of optimism that Welker would ultimately return, and while that’s still a possibility, it’s doubtful that it will happen anytime soon.

Welker will likely try to gain some leverage by visiting with other NFL teams in the coming days. The Patriots could sign counter that by bringing in Danny Amendola as potential replacement.

We have Welker listed as the No. 12 player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
