Patriots Worked Out 6 Players Including LB Akeem Ayers & QB Thad Lewis

According to Mike Reiss of ESPN, the Patriots brought in six free agents for workouts on Wednesday including LB Akeem Ayers and QB Thad Lewis.

The other players who worked out for New England include LB Nicholas Grigsby, TE Ryan O’Malley, WR Jeremy Ross and LB Antwione Williams.

The Patriots always do a ton of background work on available free agents, so you can expect them to work out even more players in the coming weeks.

This is the second workout for Ayers, who met with the Giants on Tuesday.

Ayers, 28, is a former seventh-round pick of the Titans back in 2011. He was later traded to the Patriots in return for a 2015 sixth-round pick.

The Rams signed him to a two-year, $6 million contract with $2.75 million guaranteed back in March of 2015. However, he was cut loose by the team in September of last year.

The Colts signed Ayers to a contract just a few days after he was released, but elected to move on from his this past weekend.

In 2016, Ayers appeared in all 16 games for the Colts and recorded 21 total tackles, two sacks, one interception, and two pass defenses.

We have him featured in our Top 50 Available Free Agents list.
