Patriots Worked Out Former Saints S Vinnie Sunseri

Adam Caplan of ESPN reports that the Patriots brought in former Saints S Vinnie Sunseri for a workout last week.

  • Caplan adds that Sunseri’s recovery from ACL surgery is going well.

This is the first reported interest in Sunseri since he became available close to a month ago.

Sunseri, 22, was taken in the fifth-round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the Saints. He was in the third year of his four-year, $2,396,500 rookie contract and set to make a base salary of $600,000 when the Saints placed him on waivers back on April 25.

In 2015, Sunseri was unfortunately waived with the injury designation after he suffered an ACL injury, and later reverted to the team’s injured reserve list where he remained for the entire season.

During his rookie season, Sunseri appeared in nine games for the Saints and recorded five tackles and no interceptions.
