Patriots Worked Out 6 Including: RB Bryce Brown, WR Jarrett Boykin, & WR Austin Pettis

Doug Kyed of NESN reports that the Patriots worked out six players on Friday including: RB Bryce Brown, WR Jarrett Boykin, FB Henry Hynoski, WR Austin Pettis, QB Alex Tanney and QB Dustin Vaughan.

Brown, 24, was just recently waived by the Bills a few days, so this is the first reported interest in him since he became available.

Brown was traded to the Bills by the Eagles in a deal that sent a 2014 seventh round pick that ultimately became OT Seantrel Henderson to Philadelphia.

In 2014, Brown appeared in seven games and ran for 126 yards on 36 carries (3.5 YPC) to go along with 16 receptions for 176 yards receiving and no touchdowns.

Boykin, 25, originally signed on with the Jaguars as undrafted free agent out of Virginia Tech back in 2012. He later caught on with the Packers after he was waived by Jacksonville a month after the signed him.

The Panthers wound up signing him to a one-year, $700,000 contract back in late March. However, he was among the team’s early roster cuts a few weeks ago.

In 2014, Boykin appeared in 13 games for Green Bay and caught three passes for 23 yards receiving and no touchdowns.

Pettis, 27, is a former 2011 third-round pick of the Rams. The Chargers wound up signing him to a contract in January to add depth at receiver. However, he too was among the team’s final roster cuts.

In 2014, Pettis appeared in five games and caught 12 passes for 118 yards receiving and one touchdown for the Rams.

  1. Belicek is sly…and smart by working out Bryce Brown. What better motivation is there for a player to play against the team that just fired him…not to mention Brown’s knowledge of the Bill’s playbook. Belicek always makes sure he has an “edge”.
