Patriots Worked Out Former Packers QB Matt Flynn

Dianna Marie Russini reports that the Patriots hosted former Packers QB Matt Flynn for a workout on Wednesday.

  • According to Russini, Flynn has yet to receive a contract offer from the Patriots.

Flynn, 29, hasn’t found any reported interest on the open market before this, but the market for backup quarterbacks is fairly limited, so it’s not all that surprising to hear that he got a call from someone.

Obviously, the Patriots could be without Tom Brady for as many as four games following his suspension for his role in DeflateGate.

New England has been preparing Jimmy Garoppolo to handle the starting role, but they might prefer a more experienced backup option than someone like Garrett Gilbert.

In 2014, Flynn appeared in seven games and threw for 66 yards while completing 50 percent of his passes to go along with no touchdowns and an interception in garbage time for the Packers.
