Patriots Worked Out QBs Matt Barkley, Matt McGloin & David Fales

Field Yates of ESPN reports that the Patriots brought in free agents QBs Matt Barkley, Matt McGloin and David Fales for workouts on Friday.

Barkley, 27, is a former fourth-round pick by the Eagles of the 2013 NFL Draft. He spent two years with the Eagles before he was traded to the Cardinals in return for a seventh-round pick at the start of 2015 season.

Unfortunately, the Cardinals elected to waive Barkley coming out of the preseason last year, but he later signed on to the Bears’ practice squad before being called up a few weeks into the season.

The 49ers signed him to a two-year, $4-million contract this past March before releasing him last week.

In 2016, Barkley threw for 1,611 while completing 59.7 percent of his passes to go along with eight touchdowns and 14 interceptions.

McGloin, 27, wound up signing on with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent out of Penn State back in 2013. He surprisingly has managed to make the 53-man roster each year since entering the league and returned to the Raiders last year on a one-year, $2.553 million restricted deal.

As an unrestricted free agent, McGloin signed a one-year contract with the Eagles but was unfortunately among their final roster last weekend.

In 2016, McGloin completed 8 of 15 passing attempts (53.3) for 50 yards passing and no touchdowns or interceptions.
