Patriots Worked Out WR Cobi Hamilton

Ian Rapoport reports that the Patriots brought in free agent WR Cobi Hamilton for a workout on Friday.

However, Rapoport says that the Patriots are expected to use their open roster spot to sign veteran WR Eric Decker.

Hamilton, 27, is a former sixth-round pick of the Bengals back 2013. He was, unfortunately, unable to make the team coming out of the preseason during his rookie season but was later signed to the Bengals’ practice squad.

Hamilton had brief stints with the Eagles, Bengals, Dolphins and Panthers before he was signed by the Steelers in 2016. After returning to the Steelers on a future/reserve contract, Pittsburgh waived him at the start of the 2017 season and he later signed on to the Texans’ practice squad.

Houston placed Hamilton on waivers back in March and he was later claimed by the Cardinals. However, Arizona cut him loose a few months ago.

In 2017, Hamilton appeared in three games for the Texans and caught one pass for eight yards receiving and no touchdowns.
