Patriots Working Out WR Marquess Wilson & QB Thad Lewis

Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports that the Patriots are bringing in free agent WR Marquess Wilson for a workout on Friday.

Wilson, 24, is a former seventh-round pick of the Bears back in 2013. He played out the final year of his four-year, $2.208 million rookie contract and had been testing the open market for the first time in his NFL career.

The Jets signed Wilson to a contract a few months ago, but New York cut him loose during the final week of the preseason.

In 2016, Wilson appeared in three games for the Bears and recorded just nine receptions for 160 yards receiving and one touchdown.

Lewis, 29, is a well-traveled veteran who has played for a number of teams including the Rams, Browns, Lions, Bills, Texans, and Eagles. He signed a one-year contract worth $760,000 with the 49ers as a free agent back in March of last year but was placed on injured reserve with a torn knee and missed the entire 2016 season.

Lewis last appeared in an NFL game while playing for the Bills in 2013. That year, he threw for 1,092 yards while completing 59.2 percent of his passes to go along with four touchdowns and three interceptions.
