Patriots & WR Phillip Dorsett Agree To Restructured Deal

Field Yates of ESPN reports that Patriots WR Phillip Dorsett agreed to reduce the roster bonus he was due on the fifth day of training camp.

According to Yates, Dorsett’s roster bonus has dropped from $450,000 to $150,000, but he can earn an additional $100,000 in per-game roster bonuses and $150,000 in reception incentives.

A few weeks ago, the Patriots declined Dorsett’s fifth-year option for the 2019 season, so he has a big year ahead of him.

Dorsett, 24, is a former first-round pick by the Colts in the 2015 NFL Draft. He is entering the final year of a four-year, $8.135 million rookie contract that included $6.591 million guaranteed and is set to earn a base salary of $1,094,373 in 2018.

The Patriots acquired him from the Colts during last year’s offseason in exchange for QB Jacoby Brissett.

In 2017, Dorsett appeared in 15 games for the Patriots and caught 12 passes for 194 yards receiving (16.2 YPC) and no touchdowns. Dorsett also rushed for seven yards on one carry.
