Patriots WR Wes Welker Won’t Hold Out Into Season

New England Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker said on Monday that he will not let his holdout drag into the season, Chris Price reports on Twitter.

The Patriots slapped the franchise tag on Welker, but has yet to sign the tender. It won’t keep him away from playing though, saying; “There’s $9.5 million reasons why I won’t miss any regular season games.”

If you hadn’t figured it out, $9.5 million is the value of his franchise tender. Welker was the Patriots’ leading receiver last year, catching 122 passes (most in the league) for 1,569 yards (second-most) and 9 touchdowns (sixth most).
