Peyton Hillis Re-injures Hamstring, Out For Sunday

Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that Browns RB Peyton Hillis re-injured his hamstring during Friday’s practice and will have an MRI to determine the severity of the injury.

If he’s not ready, we’ll move on,” said head coach Pat Shurmur.

As if this season couldn’t get any worse for Peyton Hillis, he suffers the same injury for the third time this season. I can’t help but think about all of the Packers fans that voted for him to win the Madden 12 cover instead of Aaron Rodgers because of the dreaded Madden curse. Since being picked for the cover, Hillis has dealt with a contract dispute, strep throat, and three hamstring injuries.

Some within the Browns locker room are showing some concern about Hillis’s ability to help the team.

I’ve never seen anything like it,” a Browns veteran explained to Yahoo Sports’ Michael Silver. “Last year, Peyton was such a positive, inspirational force on our team — but now he’s like a different guy. It’s like he’s in a funk that he can’t get out of, and it’s killing us, because we really need him. And we’ve told him that. But we’re at the point where we just don’t know what to do.”

Chris Ogbonnaya will step into the starting lineup for the Browns game against the Texans. Houston ranks #6 against the run this season so it’s not really a great match-up this week but they do play the Rams in Week 10.
