Peyton Hillis Set To Reclaim Featured Back Role

Peyton Hillis has dominated the headlines recently for all the wrong reasons but here’s something that relates to his on the field performance.

Cleveland Browns head coach Pat Shurmur announced that Hillis “get the bulk of the carries” as the teams featured running back this against the Oakland Raiders.

Last week the Browns split carries between Hillis and backup Montario Hardesty but Shurmur ultimately decided that the Hillis needs a larger work load against a team that currently ranks #23 in run defense. Shurmur added that Hardesty will still be apart of the Browns game plan but is more likely to get 8-10 touches per game.

Considering that contract negotiations between the two sides have broken down, the Browns may have made the decision to use Hillis as much as they can before allowing him to leave or franchising him at the end of the season.
