Peyton Manning Expects To Be Back With Broncos Next Year

Broncos QB Peyton Manning mentioned during Wednesday’s press conference that he has no plans to retire, and instead expects to be back with the team in 2015.

“I certainly plan on being back if the Broncos will have me,” Manning said, via Mike Klis of the Denver Post. “At this point I’m thinking about Oakland. I know this is the time when there are conversations about what coaches are going to return.

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reported last weekend that Manning is open to taking on a similar role as Broncos’ executive John Elway at some point, and could even pursue becoming an NFL owner.

However, it sounds like Manning is focused on playing out the remainder of his contract and winning another Super Bowl title.

“For some reason I guess I get to fall into that category because maybe I’m closer to the same age as some of the coaches. But I have no plans along those lines. I’m enjoying playing and looking forward to Sunday’s game and the game to follow that.

Manning, 38, still has two years remaining on his five-year, $96 million contract that included $18 million guaranteed. He is set to make base salaries of $19 million in 2015 and 2016.

This season, Manning has thrown for 4,454 yards while completing 66.8 percent of his passes for to go along with 39 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 13 quarterback in the league through 16 weeks of the season.
