Peyton Manning Not Ready To Start The Preseason?

Bob Kravitz of the Indianapolis Star reports that Colts QB Peyton Manning is not expected to be ready for the start of training camp.

It could be a week. It could be a couple of weeks,” writes Kravitz. “Or even most, or all, of training camp.”

Manning under went surgery on his neck a back in May and hasn’t recovered fast enough to allow him to be ready for the start of offseason programs. While this injury is probably the most serious injury that he has dealt with over the course of his career, you can expect to see him under center for the start of the NFL season. Manning has never missed a game in his NFL career and has proven to be one of the toughest players the NFL has ever seen at the quarterback positions.

It just happens that Manning and the Colts have been working on a new contract for a number of months now. The deal is rumored to make Manning the highest paid player in NFL history but it remains to be seen when such a deal will be reach. Indianapolis has since franchised Manning for the upcoming season which should net him roughly $22 million or so.
