Peyton Manning Willing To Take Less Money

The Indianapolis Star writes that Colts QB Peyton Manning has informed owner Jim Irsay and VP Bill Polian that he is willing to take less money than they had offer him if they are going to address players that are going to become free agents in the near future.

I’m willing to take less than they’ve offered if they are going to take that money to keep players we need to keep and go get other players,” said Manning. “All I want is for them to have the cap and the cash to keep the players they want to keep and to sign other players.”

This is great news for the Colts considering that they have quiet thus far as Manning’s contract was looming over their heads.

Manning also mentioned that cap numbers can be “as low as they want them to be in being creative with the salary cap.”

Manning hasn’t exactly been under paid in previous years but players have since surpassed his salary as the market has grown. Keeping Manning happy has been Irsay’s main objective but keeping up with their divisional competition is as important as ever considering the roster moves that the Texans and Jaguars have made thus far.
