Peyton Manning’s Extension On The Way?

Talks between the Indianapolis Colts and Peyton Manning’s agents haven’t progressed as fast as expected.

Albert Breer of the NFL Network was able to get some comments from Colts owner Jim Irsay who mentioned that “things get done when it’s quiet. It’s quiet now.” Irsay also confirmed that the two parties have been discussing a new deal in recent weeks.

Whatever the total salary ends up being, Manning will become the leagues highest paid player. Adam Schefter mentioned that the Colts will likely end up using the projected QB franchise tag numbers as a benchmark for a new deal. As of now, the projected salary figures would come out to around $23 million for 2011 and $27 million in 2012. Staggering amounts of money.
