Pittsburgh DT Aaron Donald An Option For The Vikings At No. 8 Overall?

Daniel Jeremiah of the NFL Network is “hearing” that the Vikings have interest in Pittsburgh DT Aaron Donald.

Interestingly enough, Peter King of MMQB.com mentioned earlier in the day that Minnesota wanted to add says the Vikings would like to add a “front-seven disruptor” at No. 8 overall and wait until the second round to address the quarterback position.

Donald is widely considered to be the best defensive lineman in this year’s draft class. Some have mentioned that he could go as high as No. 5 overall to the Raiders while others believe the Lions and Giants could be the two teams to watch in regards to Donald.

Beyond him, there are some questions regarding the other front seven defenders. Anthony Barr could give them a decent pass-rusher to develop, but some evaluators believe the top-ten would be too high given their concerns. It seems highly unlikely that Khalil Mack or Jadeveon Clowney would fall all the way to No. 8 overall.

Should Johnny Manziel come off the board before the Vikings’ pick, it will be interesting to see where they go in round one.

We have the Vikings taking Blake Bortles in the first round of our recently updated 2014 NFL Mock Draft.
