Police Close Investigation Into Domestic Violence Allegations Against Cowboys DT David Irving

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Frisco Police have closed their investigation into domestic violence allegations made against Cowboys DT David Irving.

Irving’s former girlfriend retracted the claims she made via his Twitter account.

Reports said that allegations made against Irving were reported to police on April 22nd at two separate times — 5pm and 10pm — by his girlfriend and was being investigated on three allegations — assault bodily injury of a family member; assault family member impeding breath/ circulation and unlawful restraint.

Irving’s ex-girlfriend “hacked” his Twitter account and posted a number of allegations against him including that he beat her, and has smoked weed and done other illegal drugs while in the NFL’s substance abuse program, via the Dallas Morning News.

Irving later responded saying that he kicked her out for cheating on him and he has since changed the locks in his house and and all of his passwords.

Irving, 24, originally signed on with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent out of Iowa State back in 2015. He was waived at the start of the regular season and later added to the Chiefs’ practice squad.

The Cowboys signed him to their active roster just a few weeks into the 2015 season and brought him back on a one-year, $615,000 exclusive rights contract last year.

Dallas used a second-round restricted tender on Irving a few months ago, which will cost them $2.914 million for the 2018 season.

In 2017, Irving appeared in eight games and recorded 22 tackles, seven sacks, a forced fumble and six pass defenses.
