Potential Changes For Giants Reportedly Won’t Be Limited To Coaching Staff

According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, changes won’t be limited to the Giants’ coaching staff next year, as ownership is troubled by the state of the team’s personnel as well.

La Canfora writes that the Giants recent drafts and free agent signings are providing little productivity this year and while much of the criticism has centered around HC Ben McAdoo, it’s being viewed as a “collective failure” within the team that will likely merit changes.

The Giants are known for being a patient organization that doesn’t make rash decisions, but sources have told La Canfora they would find it very hard to believe New York would fire a head coach just two years in and not make more systematic changes as well.

When the Giants elected to fire long-time HC Tom Coughlin a few years ago, they decided to retain GM Jerry Reese. However, it sounds like New York is more willing to clean house this time around if they decide to move on from McAdoo.

Giants ownership released a statement last week saying that they won’t make changes until after the season.

“Ben McAdoo is our head coach and has our support. We are in the midst of an extremely disappointing season. Our performance this year, particularly the past two weeks, is inexcusable and frustrating. While we appreciate that our fans are unhappy with what has occurred, nobody is more upset than we are. Our plan is to do what we have always done, which is to not offer a running commentary on the season. It is our responsibility to determine the reasons for our poor performance and at the end of the year, we will evaluate the 2017 season in its entirety and make a determination on how we move forward.

We’ll have more regarding the Giants as the news is available.
