Raiders, 49ers, Chiefs Still In On CB Sean Smith

Update:

Peter King of MMQB.com reports that the Chiefs, 49ers and Raiders are all still in the running forĀ free agent CB Sean Smith.

It’s worth mentions that indications appear to be pointing towards him signing on with the Raiders, but there appears to at least be a chance for someone else to get him under contract.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Raiders have, in fact,Ā turned their attention to free agent CB Sean SmithĀ now that they’ve lost out to the Giants for CB Janoris Jenkins..

  • However, Rapoport adds that the Chiefs are still in the mix to re-sign Smith.

Bill Williamson of Fanrag Sports reports that the Raiders could turn their attention to signing Chiefs free agent CB Sean Smith.

Smith is now the best available cornerback and the Raiders are clearly in the market for help at the position, so this makes a lot of sense.

It’s worth mentioning that the 49ers are believed to have interest in Smith as well.

Smith, 28, signedĀ a three-year, $16.5 million contract that included $7.465 million guaranteed with the Chiefs back in 2013. He’s now inĀ position to be one of the best available cornerbacks in this year’s market and should come away with a sizable contract.

In 2015, SmithĀ recorded 35Ā tackles, twoĀ interceptions, and 12 pass defenses for the Chiefs over the course of 13 games.

We have himĀ featuredĀ in ourĀ Top 100 – 2016 Free Agents list.
