Raiders Sign S Reggie Nelson To A Two-Year, $12M Deal

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Raiders have agreed to terms with S Reggie Nelson.

  • According to Ian Rapoport, Nelson receives a two-year contract worth up to $12 million from the Raiders.

Nelson met with the Raiders in recent days, and the overall expectation was that a deal would eventually get done.

The Bengals did show much interest in retaining him, even though he was very productive for them last year.

Nelson, 32, is a former first-round pick of the Jaguars back in 2007. He spent three years in Jacksonville before he was traded to the Bengals in return for David Jones and conditional draft pick.

Nelson played out his contract and was among the best available players in this year’s free agent market.

In 2015, Nelson appeared in all 16 games and recorded 77 tackles, eight interceptions, two forced fumbles, and 14 pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 9 safety out of 88 qualifying players.

We had him featured in our Best Available Free Agents list.
