Raiders Claim CB David Amerson Off Waivers From Redskins

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Raiders have claimed CB David Amerson off of waivers from the Redskins on Tuesday.

Washington waived him on Monday to make room for DE Frank Kearse, who was re-signed.

There was some speculation that the Falcons could place a waiver claim for Amerson, given that they have Raheem Morris, who has been a supporter of Amerson in the past, on their coaching staff, but the Raiders had the priority over them anyways.

Amerson, 23, is a former second round pick of the Redskins back in 2013. He has two years remaining on his four-year, $3.85 million rookie contract and stands to make base salaries of $705,082 and $880,123 over the next two years.

This season, Amerson has appeared in two games and recorded two tackles and a pass defense for Washington.
