Banta-Cain, 31, has managed to accumulate 15 sacks in the last two season as a part of the Patriots but there are some questions about his effectiveness moving forward.
“Oakland uses 3-4 outside linebacker types usually for the weakside in their 4-3, so in that regard, he would fit,” ESPN’s Matt Williamson said. “But still, Banta-Cain isn’t much of a space player and he would be a liability in coverage.”
Teams are trying to shore up some of the weaknesses on their roster but the available options are exactly great. It’s been a good season to be a former Patriot as a number of their former players have found work with new teams. We’ll have to see if Oakland thinks he has anything left in the tank.
