Report: Raiders Have Been In Contact With “Several” Free Agent OTs

Update:

Aaron Wilson reports that the Raiders have been in contract with “several” free agent offensive tackles in recent days including Eugene Monroe (Ravens) and Rodger Saffold (Rams)

  • Multiple sources have now predicted that the Raiders will eventually sign Saffold to a contract.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network suggests that the Rams’ free agent OL Rodger Saffold could be an option for the Oakland Raiders.

Saffold’s name recently came up as a target for the Cardinals, who are obviously looking for offensive line help. However, Kent Somers recently mentioned that Arizona appears to have their focus on free agent LT Jared Veldheer, who is believed to be a “more viable target” than Saffold.

The Rams would like to re-sign Saffold, but it looks like it’s going to take a lot in terms of financial commitment to get him under contract at this point in time.

Meanwhile, reports have indicated that the Dolphins could be closing in on a deal with Branden Albert, so the number of option for the Raiders could be limited in the near future.

The Raiders reportedly have an offer out to Veldheer and are hoping to retain him, but the free agent market for offensive tackles appears to be is moving fast, so they might want to narrow their search in the coming days.

We have Saffold listed as the No. 23 player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.

  1. Veldheer is ONE guy. Coming off a injury isn’t too appealing. If he walks the he walks. Menelik Watson and Eugene Monroe will be a good fit.
