Raiders Could Use Interest From San Antonio To Gain Leverage With Oakland

According to Jason Cole of B/R, it appears as though the Oakland Raiders will be the “odd team out” when it comes to relocating to Los Angeles.

Cole mentions that if this ends up being the case, Raiders owner Mark Davis could turn his attention to San Antonio, who has shown interest in bringing the team to Texas in recent years. Cole believes Davis could use San Antonio’s interest to gain some leverage with the city of Oakland.

Three sources have told Cole Davis already owns a parcel of land that sits between San Antonio and Austin, Texas that could be used to build a stadium. Cole mentions that this could be used to get the city of Oakland to give him some land to build a new stadium on.

However, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones would likely block the Raiders from moving to Texas.

Cit officials from San Antonio have previously met with Davis and made it clear that they would like to help them relocate. Although, NFL teams have used San Antonio for years to help their ongoing negotiations with their respective cities, so this is an important consideration.

We’ll have more regarding the Raiders and their options for a new stadium as the news is available.
