Raiders Cut DE Armonty Bryant & LB Cory James

The Oakland Raiders officially released DE Armonty Bryant with a non-football illness designation and waived LB Cory James with a failed physical designation.

Bryant, 27, is a former seventh-round pick of the Browns back in 2013. The Browns elected to waive him in 2016 and was claimed by the Lions after severing a suspension to open the season.

Bryant played out the final year of his four-year, $2.221 million rookie contract and re-signed with the Lions to a one-year, $855,000 contract last year. However, Detroit released a few weeks after he finished serving a four-game suspension for violating the NFL’s policy on substances of abuse.

The Raiders signed him to a contract last month.

In 2016, Bryant has appeared in five games for the Lions and recorded five tackles, three sacks, and a forced fumble.
