Raiders DE Jacquies Smith Out For Season With Achilles Injury

Raiders HC Jon Gruden announced Monday that DE Jacquies Smith will miss the rest of season following surgery for an Achilles injury, per Michael Gehlken.

You can expect the Raiders to place him on injured reserve in the coming days and add someone to their roster.

Smith, 28, originally signed on with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of Missouri back in 2012. He had brief stints with the Jets and Bills before he was waived at the start of the 2014 season and later claimed by the Buccaneers.

Tampa Bay brought Smith back on a one-year exclusive rights contract last year and he returned to the Bucs on a one-year, original-round tender worth $1.797 million for the 2017 season.

After brief stints with the Lions and Colts, the Raiders signed Smith to a contract a few weeks ago.

In 2018, Smith appeared in six games and recorded three tackles.
