Raiders DE Lamarr Houston Does Not Expect To Be Back In Oakland Next Year

Raiders DE Lamarr Houston told reporters following Sunday’s season finale that he does not expect to re-sign with the team this offseason.

“I believe that Dennis Allen and the Raiders might be looking to move on and have me go to another team and find something more what they want for their system and their scheme,” Houston said, via Jerry McDonald of the Bay Area News Group. “Who knows? It’s a rough business, and nothing’s guaranteed, and everything changes from day to day.”

The Raiders will have the most cap space of any team in the league to work with this offseason, so they could obviously afford to spend big on Houston. However, they will also have to address LT Jared Veldheer‘s contract and the two sides have already been in negotiations during the season. The fact that Houston and the Raiders have yet to discuss a long-term deal is a sign that they could allow him to test the market or possibly franchise him in the coming months.

Houston, 26, played and started all 16 games this season. He totaled 69 tackles, six sacks and two forced fumbles. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 16 4-3 defensive end.

We have Houston listed as the No. 4 player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
