Raiders DT Richard Seymour Will Become A Free Agent Following The Season

Vic Tafur reports that Raiders DT Richard Seymour will become an unrestricted free agent following the conclusion of the 2012 season.

Oakland restructured Seymour’s contract back in March to free up some additional cap space, but by doing so they voided the remaining four years and $30 million still remaining on his deal.

Seymour, 33, has been hampered by a hamstring injury this season, but has been effective when healthy. In fact, Pro Football Focus rates him as the No. 8 defensive tackle in the league this season. He’ll still have value on the open market, but it will be interesting to see who shows interest in signing him during free agency.

We’ll add his name to our Top 50 Free Agents list in the coming days.
