Raiders Expected To Retain Defensive Coordinator Ken Norton

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, the Raiders are expected to retain defensive coordinator Ken Norton, despite some speculation that he could be out in Oakland.

There was some talk that the Raiders could be a potential landing spot for Broncos DC Wade Phillips if Denver officially moved on from him. However, it appears as though they would prefer to keep some continuity and look to add some more talent to their roster before shaking things up.

Norton helped to recruit some of the team’s notable free agent additions including Bruce Irvin, who offered support for his coach on his Twitter account.

Norton Jr, 50, spend five years with the Seahawks as their linebackers coach before he was hired by the Raiders in 2015 to run their defense.

In 2016, the Raiders’ defense ranked No. 20 in points allowed, No. 26 in total yards allowed, No. 23 in rushing yards and No. 24 in passing yards allowed.
