Raiders Expected To Overhaul Front Office, Replace GM Reggie McKenzie

The Oakland Raiders are expected to make “considerable changes” in 2019, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports.

In fact, La Canfora says that Raiders GM Reggie McKenzie will not returnĀ and several other members of the scouting and football operations staff will alsoĀ beĀ replaced, as HC Jon Gruden takes full control of the organization.

According to La Canfora, Gruden is aware that he needs assistance when it comes toĀ overhauling the roster and getting the most out his stockpile of draft picks from the trades involving Khalil Mack and Amari Cooper.

Beyond that, La Canfora mentions that the Raiders will likely makeĀ several veteran players available for trade at next year’s Scouting Combine, as the team tries to establish their core.

Reports have said for months now that changes were likely coming to the Raiders’ front office after this season, so this shouldn’t come as a big surprise. In fact, Redskins president Bruce Allen has been floated as a name to watch for the Raiders, given his ties to Gruden.

McKenzie, 55, is a former 10th-round pick of the Raiders back in 1985. He played for the Raiders, Cardinals and 49ers before becoming an NFL executive in 1994.

After 18 years in Green Bay, McKenzie was hired by the Raiders as their GM in 2012. During his six years in Oakland, McKenzie’s teams have gone 38-70 including one playoff appearance.

We’ll have more regarding potential changes for the Raiders as the news is available.
